Cas & Ant

One of a kind, handcrafted by Cas & Ant

Cas and Ant were best friends as teenagers and have been inseparable ever since. They are a large family of 7 plus a menagerie of pets. Ant has a creative background, and Cas was a teacher until the children came along. Now the children are getting older, she loves sewing and knitting. They've brought their passions and creative skills together to start a new joint venture designing and handcrafting bags.

Handmade with love, inspiration and passion and using only the best natural fabrics such as linen, cotton, tweed and tartan.

Magical experiences…

  • Seeking inspiration...

We spent this summer's holiday in the Scottish Highlands and the Isle of Harris and Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. It was inspiring to visit this magical place and meet talented local artisans. They produced the most beautiful Harris tweed and their own tweed designs (even though it was raining and the children refused to get out of the car). One of our favourites was Amor Weavers in Shawbost on Lewis, a husband and wife team with a love of and addiction to weaving. We shared their addiction as we spent a fascinating hour watching them both weave and learning all about the process.

  • Craftsmanship...

We also loved the hobbit-style studio of Dancing Flower Crafts in Carloway, and we couldn't resist purchasing some one-off pieces hand embroidered by Emily. It was a privilege to meet new friends and master craftspeople to support our new venture.

  • Supporting local...

When searching for a quality leather supplier for our handles, we were amazed to find Johny Todd within 1/2 mile of our home. Johny Todd is the home of handcrafted, personalised and bespoke leather products created using unique designs of originality and quality. We took our origami bag pattern to Johny and commissioned a leather version which turned out wonderfully. He has since made his version to sell in his unique store. We recently completed a leather notebook cover workshop with Johny, it was great to learn a new skill and very enjoyable.
